Policies and Procedures

By registering for or enrolling in a SIMPLY FRESH FOOD WITH CHEF RENÉEor SIMPLY CHEF RENÉE (SCR) class or event you agree to our policies and procedures as follows:

All classes and event registrations are confirmed upon completion of registration. Any dietary restrictions, allergies or alerts must be documented at the time of registration.  SCR cannot be held liable for allergic reactions that have not been documented to our staff.  For online registrations, a confirmation is automatically sent to the “Bill To” email address as provided in the original order. SCR cannot be held responsible for undelivered or “bounced back” online confirmations due to spam filters or firewalls. SCR asks all participants to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the booked class or event as check-in is required.

For cooking classes/lessons:  If a registrant is 10 or more minutes late he or she may forfeit their seat unless prior written arrangements and confirmations have been received by SCR.  SCR is very flexible with making alternate arrangements so please give us the opportunity to make other arrangements in-line with our policies.

Substitutions and Class Format
We reserve the right to substitute ingredients, menus, recipes, chefs and instructors without notification. Unless noted otherwise classes are hands-on or of a demonstration style. Class sizes may be limited and are structured to allow each participant the opportunity to work closely with the chef in preparation of dishes and to observe the ingredients, tools and techniques used in the making of dishes.


Payments are made according to the signed contract unless otherwise indicated at the time of booking. For personal chef services, full payments are required 5 days prior to the date of service.  Payments made 3 days prior to the services must be made with a cashier’s check or money order.  For any returned checks, an additional fee of $40 will be added to the original bill payable upon receipt.  Event payments are made according to the signed contract.


You and your event are SCR’s number one priority and we value your time.  In an effort for all services to be rendered at the scheduled time we ask that you adhere to the agreed upon schedule.   Should an emergency arise we ask that SCR be notified immediately.  With proper notification (per above) SCR we will attempt to make a reasonable solution.

Use of Class/Event/Kitchen Tools

Proper care and use of class, event and kitchen tools (SCR tools) are the responsibility of SCR and we will make every effort to teach/train and instruct participants in “their” proper and correct use.  Misuse of SCR tools may result in dismissal without a refund or voucher.  Each participant assumes full responsibility when using SCR tools and agrees to abide by the rules in the handout upon entering class (please read handouts prior to the start of class or use of SCR tools).  *Event policies & procedures are outlined in individual contracts. 

Cancellations, Exchanges, Credits and Refunds
To cancel a paid reservation and receive a refund the cancellation (for classes) must be made in writing and made no less than 4 days before the class date.  

For private events (personal chef services included) for 20 or more people, cancellations must be made no less than 2 weeks to receive a partial refund.  For cancellations of private events (personal chef services included) less than 20 people refunds are as follows:  10-14 days, 30% non-refundable fee assessed; 5-9 days, 40% non-refundable fee assessed; 1-4 days 75% non-refundable fee assessed.  The fees are based on total fees including any additional costs per requested.  * (See event contract for special events cancellation policies and procedures.)  No refunds, exchanges or vouchers will be provided to changes or cancellations made on the day of the class and/or event nor for no shows — without exception.

Class reservations are fully transferable meaning should a registered and paid participant become unavailable to attend a class he/she may send someone else in their place with written permission (simplychefrenee@gmail.com). Changes and cancellations may be made in person or by calling 860-830-1169 during business hours and speaking directly to one of our staff (verification of identification will be asked and required). Due to potential timing issues, we cannot accept, or honor cancellations sent by email less than 24 hours of the scheduled class or any phone messages or voicemails less than 24 hours.

In the event SCR cancels a class a new class will be offered valued at the same amount of the original class and/or the class will be rescheduled. Cancellations due to “acts of nature” or circumstances out of the control of SCR (like power outages, traffic accidents, building closures, etc.) will be handled as they occur.
